In our first phase of the usability testing - a phase of an app in which random users are asked to do basic and advanced requests within a beta of the app for observation
This in return allows us to fully comprehend any flaws we might have with the UI (use interface) so that we can improve upon it while writing the app itself.
Some of the key flaws we found:
- Colour theme by user might surface as problematic, an avatar / picture based system might be more appropriate.
- in addition to adding tunes from Youtube a request to load tunes from the default music library, the two will most likely work in conjunction.
- The "Guest" option seems unclear to some users, the prefered option is to have a list of available deviced to connect to.
- Tune control system, most users want the option to fully control the songs being played.
- Renaming the "Load playlist" to "My playlist" so that users can understnd the functions in a clear manner aswell as that it serves as a playlist history tool.
- Feedback on songs that are added.
- Returning to home page button unclear
- Renaming song adding function to a more social based structure
While we are at the ready to improve on these new enlightments, some key features were highly praised.
The minimalistic and clean appproach the app represents to the user allows them to easily understand what the app offers and how to achieve that with ease, aswell as being an effective and simple idear. The vast majorty of our testers showed delight to
reuse the app in its final phase.
