Third Meeting – Research

Our goal for this meeting was to decide on one idea which will accompany us throughout the year. As mentioned at the prior Blog, each group investigated there idea and looked up for apps or websites that are similar to our ideas in order to proceed or deny them. we had 3 main teams:

1. Team BILLS checked apps and cites that manage bills between roommates – and found an app named ROOMIES which answers the problems we addressed. The app enables receiving a push-message when one of your roommates adds an expense and watching your expenses filtered by roommate \ time period \ expense category. The team also researched the methods for splitting bills at restaurant and found an Israeli App names "Mycheck" which manages the same issue, by syncing a code with the waiter you can pay through your mobile. Our solution idea is a little different but we found that this subject is dense with solutions and decided to drop it.

2.Team ELIVATOR found mainly systems based on screens that share a day to day information at the elevator. Other apps that are already exist in elevators are "Elevator Traffic Analysis" which enables you to perform an elevator traffic analysis on an old elevator, "Elevator Music" - Play elevator music, remove awkward silence and "101 Fun Stuff ToDo in Elevator" - 101 Fun things to do in that boring elevator ride. We decided that the time we usually spend in elevators is too short to activate an app, given that an app should probably be activated manually.

3. The CAR team found a lot of apps and activities for car trips; "Road trip breaker question" is an app which uses your device's accelerometer to show you one ice breaker question at a time. Another app is "Baby car driving app" - Entertain your kid with this super simple application that will let him drive a funny car with realistic sound effects. We found that there is a variety of car apps a and that most of the old fashion car games were already given an updated app version.

After many hours of brainstorming we came up with another idea. How about an app that makes a music playlist by you and your friends in real time? We studied this new world and found that there are so many music apps but is it possible that this one doesn't exist? So again, we researched and realized that there are similar apps but still not the same: "8 TRACKS" – enables you to listen to a mix, or create a mix. Listeners can search for a mix by artist or genre, stream it in a legal, radio-style manner, and follow others who make compelling mixes. Another similar idea is "Music Sessions" which lets you create a Multi-Speaker Sound system between all connected devices – This app sounds the same like our idea but has two downsides: it doesn't work[u1] and the songs must be imported from your own song list and not from "YOUTUBE". We decided that since this particular element doesn't exist – this will be our idea – to make an interactive app in which anyone can use "youtube" in order to make a mutual playlist with our friend and family in real time.
